"We all share a concern about the situation on the border with Lebanon," Macron told the press on Thursday, after the first day of meetings in Borgo Egnazia, in southern Italy.
"We adopted the principle of an Israel-United States-France troika to advance the plan we proposed. We will do the same with the Lebanese authorities", added the French head of state.
Since the end of January, France has been trying to contain violence on the border between Israel and Lebanon, something that has raised fears of an open war.
Paris presented a first plan to both parties, which was amended in early May at the request of Beirut, which considered the first version too favorable to Israel.
The plan proposes an end to violence on both sides and the withdrawal of forces from Al Radwan, the elite unit of the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah, and other armed groups, from a ten-kilometer buffer zone along the border with Israel.
The plan also calls for full freedom of movement for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, as well as a greater role and increased troops for the Lebanese army.
Hezbollah has refused to enter into negotiations until there is a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, where Israel launched an offensive against Hamas, after the Palestinian Islamist movement launched an unprecedented attack on Israeli soil on October 8.
The Lebanese state news agency said today that a civilian was killed and at least seven other people were injured during nighttime bombings launched by the Israeli army in southern Lebanon.
According to the agency, "enemy warplanes launched an attack on a house" in Janata, a small town located in the Tire region, on Thursday night.
Hours earlier, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had announced new bombings against Hezbollah's "military buildings" and "terrorist infrastructure" in southern Lebanon.
"During the night, fighter jets attacked military buildings in Aita al Chaab and terrorist infrastructure in Einta, in southern Lebanon," the Israeli army announced in a statement.
The IDF stressed that air defense systems launched an interceptor against a "suspect target", although it said it was "a misidentification".
The attacks took place a day after Hezbollah launched more than 160 projectiles into Israeli territory, in one of the biggest attacks since the start of the clashes, more than eight months ago, in what was the initial response to the death of a group commander, in a bombing. carried out on Tuesday by Israel against southern Lebanon.
