Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Russia, the Kremlin announced this Tuesday.
Quoted by the Associated Press (AP) news agency, President Vladimir Putin's foreign policy advisor, Yuri Ushakov, said that the visit is already being prepared, but did not announce when it will take place.
The AP highlights that Moscow and New Delhi have maintained strong friendly ties since the Cold War, mainly as commercial partners. The relationship has grown since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, in February 2022, through India's purchase of Russian oil, after the United States imposed sanctions on the Russian product.
Modi's visit comes after his re-election for a third consecutive term. The last time the Indian Prime Minister was on an official visit to Russia was in 2019, at an economic forum in Vladivostok. Moscow is a city that Modi has not visited, according to AP, since 2015.
