Tourists who take part in environmentally friendly activities during a visit to Copenhagen, Denmark, will be rewarded with free meals and drinks.
The measure was announced by the Danish capital's tourism office, stating that it will begin on July 15.
Thus, those who take part in actions such as picking up litter, riding public transport or cycling could be rewarded, reports the BBC.
Visitors can then enjoy free meals, coffee, wine or kayak rental as a reward for their actions. It's a "small step towards the ecological transition", admits tourism minister Rikke Holm Petersen.
The project is "based on trust", which means that attractions are unlikely to ask for proof that the ecological activity has been carried out, although at "some attractions, you may have to show a photo of yourself cycling or your public transport ticket", she explains.
So far, 24 organizations have joined the pilot project, including museums, bars and kayaking charities.
