Mozambican Authorities Repatriate Two Portuguese to South Africa

Mozambican authorities repatriated two people of "Portuguese origin" to South Africa, after being detained in Gaza, in southern Mozambique, with an "expired document", the provincial migration spokesperson told Lusa today.

"This is a couple of Portuguese origin, but with acquired South African nationality. Initially they stated that they did not have a passport and after screening, one of them displayed an expired passport," said Abeldo Nhanombe, spokesperson for the National Migration Service (Senami ) in Gaza province.

The couple was detained on Tuesday, at the Incoluane checkpoint, in the district of Bilene, and repatriated on Wednesday afternoon to South Africa, as they presented passports from that country.

"One of them was legal. His passport was duly stamped and within the deadline (...) they were both repatriated because they were in the same vehicle and heading in the same direction", said the spokesperson.
