'Diddy' Accused Of Sex Trafficking And Extortion. Defense Claims Innocence

The rapper who was arrested in New York (USA) on Monday night, September 16, has already been charged.

Rapper Sean Combs, known as 'Diddy', has been charged with sex trafficking and racketeering, after being arrested in New York (USA) on Monday night, September 16.

The musician's lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, said that Combs will plead not guilty.

"He is not guilty. He is innocent of these charges," he said, quoted by CNN, adding that he anticipates a "long battle with a good outcome" for his client.

The day before, the lawyer had already reported that Combs had been in New York since last week, after learning that he could be charged.

In March, two properties owned by 'Diddy' were searched in Los Angeles and Miami, as part of an investigation into sex trafficking, two police officers revealed to the AP.

The searches were carried out by federal agents from the Office of Homeland Security and Investigations as part of an investigation by federal authorities in New York.

In a statement, the Homeland Security and Investigations (HSI) said only that it "executed law enforcement actions as part of an ongoing investigation, with the support of HSI Los Angeles, HSI Miami and other local law enforcement partners."

In recent months, several lawsuits have been filed against the artist for alleged sexual assaults. In November, he was the target of an allegation of rape and physical violence over a period of years by R&B singer Casandra Venura, whose stage name is Cassie. According to a document in federal court in Manhattan, Combs "frequently punched, kicked and stomped on Ventura, resulting in bruises, busted lips, black eyes and bleeding."

The complaint alleged that 'Diddy' subjected the singer to savage beatings, plied her with drugs and forced her to have sex with other men while he masturbated and filmed them. The document also accused Combs of forcing his way into Ventura's home and raping her when their relationship was ending in 2018.

'Diddy' responded to the accusations in a statement, assuring that he did not do "any of the horrible things that are being alleged".

Formerly known as Puff Daddy, Combs is one of the most influential hip-hop producers and artists of the last three decades and has built one of the largest empires linked to this musical genre with several entities linked to his name.

He is the founder of the music label Bad Boy Records and winner of three Grammys.
