Russian forces have attacked Ukrainian territory in recent hours with 51 drones, 17 of which were intercepted by air defenses, the Ukrainian Air Force announced.
The main target of the attack with Iranian-made unmanned devices was the Sumi region, northwestern Ukraine, close to the Russian border.
According to Kyiv, the electricity supply was affected and alternative sources were called in to keep hospitals and the public water distribution service running.
“Tonight, the Sumi region came under heavy air attack. Shaed (Iranian-made drones) attacked electricity supply facilities,” the Ukrainian Regional Military Administration said on social media.
According to the local electricity company Sumioblenergo, the attack affected the electricity distribution system in “several areas of the region” attacked.
According to Kyiv, Russia hits Ukraine “every night” with Shaed drones and missiles, mainly targeting power distribution stations.
