Microsoft has announced that it will update the Xbox app for Android phones to allow players to purchase games directly through their mobile devices, according to The Verge.
The change is scheduled for next month and is currently only confirmed for the US market, as a result of a court ruling that forces Google to require the use of the Google Play Billing system in its online store starting November 1.
Xbox president Sarah Bond posted on social media where she said that “[the company’s] mission is to enable more players to play on more devices.”
The court’s ruling to open up Google’s mobile store in the US will allow more choice and flexibility. Our mission is to allow more players to play on more devices so we are thrilled to share that starting in November, players will be able to play and purchase Xbox games directly…
