The Federal Police are executing search and seizure and arrest warrants on Tuesday morning (19) against suspects of being part of a criminal organization that, according to investigations, planned a coup d'état in 2022 to prevent the inauguration of President Lula (PT).
The PT member defeated then-President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in a fierce 2nd round dispute. During his term, the now ineligible Bolsonaro made a number of coup statements and is currently the target of a PF investigation into his role in the plot that attempted to prevent Lula from taking office.
Regarding Tuesday's operation, the PF stated that among the actions that would be developed to prevent Lula from taking office was the “Green and Yellow Dagger” plan, which would involve the assassination of the PT member and his vice president, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB).
At least four military personnel, including a retired general, are targets of the measures carried out in three states (RJ, GO, AM) and in the Federal District. All arrests have already been carried out.
They are retired general Mario Fernandes and lieutenant colonels Hélio Ferreira Lima, Rafael Martins de Oliveira and Rodrigo Bezerra de Azevedo. Federal police officer Wladimir Matos Soares is also among the targets of the warrants — he has also been arrested.
The plan to execute Lula and Alckmin was discussed at Braga Netto's house in 2022
The plan to execute Lula (PT) and Alckmin (PSB) after they defeated Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in the 2022 election was discussed at General Braga Netto's residence on November 12 of that year, according to Andréia Sadi's blog.
The meeting was confirmed by General Mauro Cid, Bolsonaro's right-hand man who became a collaborator with the Justice Department, and corroborated by materials seized from Brigadier General Mario Fernandes.
On Tuesday (19), the PF arrested Fernandes, three other elite Army officers – the so-called black kids – and a federal police officer suspected of devising a plan, called Green and Yellow Dagger, to kill Alckmin and Lula on December 15, 2022.
Alexandre de Moraes, minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) who is the rapporteur for investigations against Bolsonaro, would also be executed.
Braga Netto was one of the strongest names in the Bolsonaro government. Minister of Defense and chief minister of the Civil House, he ended up being chosen by the former president to be part of the ticket that sought reelection in 2022.
For the PF, the general is one of the names most involved in the attempted coup d'état to keep Bolsonaro in power despite his defeat in the elections, and it is unlikely that he will escape indictment in the investigation that is investigating the case.
Investigation indicates that military personnel used an Army vehicle in a plan to kill Moraes
Details of the Federal Police (PF) investigation that led the Attorney General's Office (PGR) to endorse and the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to authorize the operation this Tuesday (19) reveal the use of State and Army devices in eavesdropping and threats to authorities to prevent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva from taking office in 2023.
According to the investigation, there are suspicions that Army vehicles were used to monitor Minister Alexandre de Moraes, including in his official apartment.
In a decision, the minister removed three of the active military personnel involved in the case from public office. The Federal Police launched an operation today and arrested five members of the Forces accused of plotting the assassinations of Moraes, Lula and Vice President Geraldo Alckmin.
