Three Israelis Killed in Attack in Northern West Bank

Three Israelis were killed on Monday in a shooting attack on a bus in Al-Funduq, a Palestinian village in the northern West Bank surrounded by Jewish settlements, according to an Israeli emergency service.

According to the Israeli emergency and rescue service, the dead included two women in their 60s and a man in his 40s. Seven other people were injured, including the bus driver, aged 63.

The Israeli army said its troops were searching for the perpetrators of this "terrorist attack" and had set up roadblocks near the site of the attack and surrounded several villages.

Violence has been increasing in the West Bank since the attack by the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas on Israeli territory on 7 October 2023, which triggered the war in the Gaza Strip.

Around three million Palestinians live in the West Bank, occupied by Israel since the 1967 war, and more than 500,000 Jews live in the same region in dozens of settlements, which most of the international community considers illegal.
