The German Federal Prosecutor's Office issued search warrants this Wednesday morning for 19 properties across the country. Eight in Hesse, four in North Rhine-Westphalia, three in Bavaria, two in Baden-Württemberg, one in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and another in Rhineland-Palatinate.
The searches are part of an anti-terrorist operation aimed at arresting 17 suspects who are allegedly founders and members of the N'Hamedu Brigade, a German terrorist organization, reports the German newspaper Bild.
The N'Hamedu Brigade has existed in Germany for at least three years and is suspected of having committed acts of violence at Eritrean events and against the police on several occasions.
More than 200 officers from the Federal Criminal Police Office and the police forces of the federal states are involved in the operation.
As of 10 a.m. (9 a.m. in Lisbon), no arrests had been made.
