It didn't start in the street.
It started in boardrooms, with politicians and executives.
In the 1990s, pharmaceutical giants filled doctors with propaganda and “studies” saying that opioids were safe. Blatant lies.
The FDA approved it.
Congress turned a blind eye.
The lobby was too fat to say no.
Millions became dependent on OxyContin and other opioids.
By the time the prescription tap ran out, it was too late, the addiction had set in.
Then in came fentanyl, cheaper, more powerful, more deadly, coming from Mexico and China, but authorized by the American authorities, the real dealers in this story.
What we see today is the direct result of POLITICAL CHOICES:
A regulator who pretended not to see.
Congressmen and Senators bought off.
Companies that profit from pain and death.
More than 70,000 deaths a year.
It's not an accident. IT'S A CONSEQUENCE.
