Ex-Real Sociedad Man Sentenced To Prison For Gender-based Violence

Former Spanish international Javi de Pedro was admitted to the Martutene prison establishment, in the Guipúzcoa region, last Tuesday, after being found guilty of committing a crime of gender-based violence.

According to this Wednesday's edition of the Spanish newspaper El Diario Vasco, the former player (who distinguished himself while serving Real Sociedad, between 1993 and 2004, before representing Blackuburn Rovers, Perugia, Ergotelis, IFK Goteborg, Burgos CF and Vera Almería) was sentenced to nine months in prison.

Authorities in the neighboring country had already issued an arrest warrant for Javi de Pedro several weeks ago. However, he repeatedly changed his address, with the aim of escaping arrest by these parties.

However, the former midfielder ended up being found, in recent days, at his place of work, an establishment dedicated to the production and sale of cider.
