A 57-year-old businessman and his 16-year-old daughter were crushed to death by a bulldozer in a traffic accident in Utah, USA. Richard David Hendrickson and his daughter Sally were driving in the Ogden Canyon area when an excavator fell off the truck in front of them, crushing them to death, according to People magazine.
Also in the car were Hendrickson's wife and two of the couple's children, who were injured in the incident but are out of danger. There is also a fourth daughter of the couple, who was not in the car at the time of the incident.
"They don't normally drive in that direction. But they went up Arden Canyon because it was such a beautiful scenic drive. And unfortunately, that's where the very, very random accident occurred," said Vince Rhoton, executive vice president of Lifetime Products, the company that had Hendrickson as CEO.
The family had traveled to Pine View Reservoir for water activities before the tragic incident.
A petition has been launched on the Change.org website to limit the type of vehicles that can drive on Highway 39 in Ogden Canyon. "With the roadway offering little or no shoulder space in certain locations, some heavy vehicles pose a substantial safety risk to drivers," the proposal reads.
