Famous Russian Reporter Hospitalized After Attack in Kursk Region

Initially there were reports that the reporter had died, but in fact he survived and is in hospital.

A prominent war reporter for Russian television has been injured following an incursion by Ukrainian forces into the Kursk region in southern Russia.

According to Reuters, Rossiya-24 revealed in a Telegram post that Yevgeny Poddubny survived a drone strike and is in intensive care at a local hospital. The journalist was reporting.

"War correspondent Yevgeny Poddubny is conscious," declared the Russian Health Ministry, quoted by the news agency. "He is currently in intensive care. He is receiving the treatment he needs. There are plans to organize remote consultations with the main (Russian) federal centres," it added.

Rossiya-24 also emphasizes that Poddubny, 40, is one of the most visible reporters of what they call Russia's "special military operation" in Ukraine.

Russia's Investigative Committee said it would work to determine who was responsible for the attack.

The Russian region of Kursk entered a state of emergency today, following the incursion of Ukrainian forces on Tuesday, said the acting governor of this territory, which borders Ukraine.

The Ukrainian attack was described by Russian President Vladimir Putin as a "large-scale provocation" by Kyiv, which he accused of carrying out "indiscriminate shelling with different types of weapons, including missiles, against civilian buildings, residential buildings and ambulances".

Influential Russian military analysts today criticised the country's military command for failing to contain the Ukrainian incursion launched in the Kursk region.
