Four people have been arrested in California for dressing up as bears and simulating bear attacks on their luxury vehicles, in order to bilk their insurance companies out of damages.
The attacks allegedly took place on three vehicles in a mountainous area of California, but an investigation into what happened proved that it was all a lie.
The California Department of Insurance concluded that it wasn't a bear, but “a person in disguise who carried out the attacks on three high-end cars on June 28 of this year in Lake Arrowhead”.

To reach this conclusion, they enlisted the help of a “biologist from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife”, who analyzed security camera footage in which a furry creature could be seen moving around inside a 2010 Rolls Royce and two 2015 and 2022 Mercedes Benz. The creature, they concluded, was not real.
The owners of the vehicles claimed a total of 141,839 dollars from their insurers, but have since been charged with insurance fraud and conspiracy to defraud.
