On September 11, Jon Bon Jovi stopped a woman from jumping off a bridge in Nashville, USA. The episode was captured by the city's Metropolitan Police surveillance cameras and later released. The cameras show Jon Bon Jovi - who was nearby recording a music video - walking up to the young woman and talking to her in a calm manner. A few minutes later, the woman steps away from the bridge railing and the two embrace. From that day on, the Bon Jovi lead singer was considered a hero for saving the woman's life.
Recently, during the Montclair Film Festival in New Jersey, the singer described and spoke about this episode for the first time. "I did what any of us would do. That woman gave a completely coherent and sad speech. She said to me: 'Look at me. I'm wearing a paper gown, I have no shoes, no phone, no money, nowhere to go. They let me out of the hospital. I'm not suicidal or homicidal,'" said Jon Bon Jovi in an interview with host Stephen Colbert.
The artist stayed by his wife's side while they waited for the emergency services. "At some point a psychologist came and talked to her. I didn't do much, I just stood there,” said the artist, who also praised the work of the police, firefighters and therapist who took care of the woman at the time.
