Russia Has Ballistic And Cruise Missiles Ready, Ukraine Warns

Ukrainian authorities confirmed today that Russia has ballistic and cruise missiles ready to launch a major attack on Ukraine, after the US embassy in Kiev suspended its activities.

"Let me remind you that the Russians have been stockpiling missiles for months for a series of strikes against Ukraine," said the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Defense and Security Council of Ukraine, Andri Kovalenko, who explained that the missiles are, in particular, Kh-101, Kalibr and ballistic missiles.

Kovalenko added that Russia also has ships and planes ready to hit Ukraine, but warned that the situation is not new. "This has been reported before," he said in a post on social media.

On Sunday, Russia launched a massive attack against Ukraine, which mainly targeted the Ukrainian electricity system and in which it used 120 missiles and 90 drones.

On Tuesday, Ukraine launched US ballistic missiles for the first time against military targets located inside Russia, after receiving authorization from the White House to use this weapon against enemy territory.

Moscow had repeatedly threatened to take action if such a decision was made.

After Moscow threatened to respond to the use of long-range US missiles against Russian territory, the US embassy in Kiev announced that it would close after being warned of a "possible significant air strike" against Ukraine.

The US embassy says it "received precise information about a possible significant air strike on November 20", according to the official website of the diplomatic legation.

"As a precautionary measure, the embassy will be closed and embassy staff are advised to seek shelter in the event of an attack", the same note states, recommending that US citizens in Ukraine seek shelter in the event of an air strike.

Spain has also announced the closure of its embassy in Kiev to the public.
