A senior advisor to Donald Trump left a clear warning to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky: the new US administration will focus on achieving peace in Ukraine rather than reclaiming Russian-occupied territory, stating that "Crimea is gone ".
Bryan Lanza, a longtime Republican Party strategist, told the BBC that the Trump administration will ask the Ukrainian head of state for a "realistic vision for peace."
"And if President Zelensky comes to the table and says we can only have peace if we have Crimea, he shows us that he doesn't mean it," he said. “Crimea is gone,” he said, referring to the peninsula annexed by Russia in 2014.
It is worth remembering that Trump, president-elect of the United States, has reiterated his objective of ending the war in Ukraine in "24 hours". However, the republican never made his idea come true and criticized the size of the aid given to Kyiv to resist the Russian invasion, also praising Vladimir Putin.
Both in Europe and in Ukraine there are fears that Donald Trump will force Kyiv to negotiate with Moscow under very unfavorable conditions.
