Panic Across Los Angeles as More Wildfires Force Mass Evacuations

Los Angeles is grappling with five wildfires that have forced over 137,000 people to evacuate.

A new fire erupted in the Hollywood Hills on Wednesday night, just a mile from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, adding to the crisis.

The fires have destroyed nearly 2,000 structures and claimed at least five lives, with more destruction expected.

In Pacific Palisades, some residents were forced to abandon cars and flee on foot as flames closed in from both sides of the roadway.

Elsewhere, hikers narrowly escaped heavy smoke and advancing fires.

Thousands of firefighters are battling in extreme conditions, with some using swimming pools and ponds to supplement their water supply.

The fires have covered 42 square miles, stretching from the Pacific Coast to Pasadena, leaving a trail of destruction.
