IBM Leader Doesn't Believe AI Will Replace Programmers

IBM's CEO, Arvind Krishna, was present at the SXSW event and took the opportunity to comment on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the job market - especially in the world of programming.

According to the TechCrunch website, Krishna said that he believes that, in the future, AI models will be able to generate between 20 and 30% of the code used by companies, thus disagreeing with Anthropic's CEO, Dario Amodei, who recently said that the percentage would reach 90%.

“I think the figure will be somewhere between 20 and 30% of the code that can be written by AI, not 90%,” said the IBM leader, indicating that the introduction of AI into companies will mean greater worker productivity. “If you can write 30% more code with the same number of people, will you have more or less code? Because history shows that the most productive companies gain market share and are able to produce more products, which allows them to gain more market share.”
