The head of Microsoft's video game division, Phil Spencer, took advantage of the premiere of the movie based on 'Minecraft' to assure that the company intends to give the 'green light' to more video game adaptations in the future.
Spencer spoke not only about the success of 'Fallout' on Prime Video but also about the cancellation of 'Halo' after two seasons, indicating that Microsoft has learned from the process.
“We're learning and growing in the process, which is giving us the confidence to do more,” said Spencer. “We learned from 'Halo'. We learned from 'Fallou'. All of this contributes. And obviously we're going to have some projects that fail.”
It's worth remembering that Microsoft's Xbox is not the only company in the world of video games to invest heavily in adaptations.
PlayStation already has television and film adaptations of 'The Last of Us', 'Gran Turismo', 'Twisted Metal' and 'Uncharted', while Nintendo has already released a film based on 'Super Mario' and, as well as betting on a sequel, is also going ahead with a film of 'The Legend of Zelda'.
