El Salvador Deploys Military Forces in Rescue Operation for Hostage Technicians Held in Haiti

President Nayib Bukele announced a military operation to rescue the non-combatants, who went missing Sunday near Port-au-Prince as part of a UN-backed gang suppression force. In a direct message to gang leaders in Haitian Creole, Bukele demanded their safe release, warning of escalation and referencing his success against gangs in El Salvador.

Haiti's government called the hostages' freedom a top priority and is coordinating efforts, amid mixed online reactions praising Bukele's firmness or opposing foreign troops.
