The Palestinian people are already celebrating the announcement of the Hamas ceasefire in the Gaza Strip with great joy and effusiveness.
In Rafah, in the south of the Gaza enclave, - where Israel is planning a major military offensive - Palestinians took to the streets, where they celebrated with shots in the air and demonstrations of joy.
The population also gathered in front of Al-Aqsa Hospital to celebrate, shortly after Hamas reported that it accepted the proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip mediated by Egypt and Qatar.
The Palestinian group issued a statement today stating that its leader, Ismail Haniyeh, has already announced the decision in a phone call to the governments of Qatar and Egypt.
It should be remembered that for several months these two countries have been mediating talks between Israel and Hamas, seeking to find a solution to the war triggered by the attack by the Islamist movement on Israeli territory, on October 7 last year.
For now, Israel's official position is not yet known but, according to Reuters, an Israeli official said that no ceasefire has been agreed in Gaza and that the proposal that Hamas has accepted is a "watered down" version of a Egyptian proposal, which included "far-reaching" conclusions that Israel could not accept.
Meanwhile, a source close to Tel Aviv cited by the Associated Press (AP) revealed that Israeli authorities will analyze a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, but claim that the plan of the Palestinian group Hamas has changed in relation to the previously proposed framework.
The same source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, did not provide further details, but explained that Israeli forces are still developing a formal response.
A Hamas official argued that, after this announcement of acceptance of the ceasefire, "the ball is now in Israel's court".
"The ball is now in Israel's court", which has the choice "between accepting the ceasefire agreement or obstructing it", explained this leader of the Islamist movement.
