About two weeks ago, Pope Francis declared that there was an atmosphere of “too much faggotry” within the Church and ended up apologizing for the term used, stating that “it was not his intention to be homophobic”.
However, the Pontiff has now put his 'foot in it' again and, according to the Italian press, used the term again during a meeting between priests.
According to Corriere dela Serra, Francis met this Tuesday behind closed doors with around 200 priests to discuss the possible entry of homosexuals into the Church's seminaries.
In one of his reactions, the Pope once again complained about the 'faggotry' in the Vatican and, although “gays are good people”, he argued that it would be better to put an end to this trend.
According to a statement issued by the Vatican, the Pontiff called on the Church to welcome homosexuals, but asked for “prudence” regarding their possible entry into seminaries.
“The Pope spoke of the danger of ideologies in the Church and returned to the question of admitting people with homosexual tendencies to seminaries, reiterating the need to welcome and accompany them in the Church with the prudential indication of the Dicastery for the Clergy on their admission to the seminary,” the Vatican press release read.
