Denzel Washington Says He Plans To Retire "Soon"

Actor Denzel Washington, 69, one of the most acclaimed names in the Hollywood industry, has hinted that he intends to retire "soon".

The surprise came during a tribute paid to the 69-year-old star at the American Black Film Festival from June 12 to 16. Denzel spoke about his future in theaters and revealed for the first time the possibility of participating less and less in productions in front of the camera.

"The things that are happening for me professionally behind the camera are so important to me now. I think I'll be spending less and less time recording," he explained.

Washington is just a few months away from the premiere of his newest project, the highly anticipated 'Gladiator 2', and Spike Lee's crime drama, 'High and Low'.
