Kim Jong Un Described Vladimir Putin As “Comrade In Arms”

Kim Jong Un's statements were released after the Russian newspaper Vedomosti reported Putin's possible visit to North Korea and Vietnam "in the coming weeks".

According to the North Korean news agency KCNA, the meeting between Kim Jong Un and Putin in Russia last year took ties between the two countries to a "higher level".

In a message sent to Putin, the North Korean leader highlighted the results achieved by the Russian leader in achieving a "strong country despite all the challenges and sanctions imposed by hostile forces", referring to Ukraine.

Kim Jong Un traveled to Russia in September 2023, where he visited facilities at the Vostochny Cosmodrome, where the Russian space construction agency operates, where Putin promised help in the construction of satellites.

The two leaders agreed to maintain new contacts.

Pyongyang and Moscow have been gradually increasing diplomatic and security relations, especially as tensions on the Korean peninsula and Ukraine worsen.

A North Korean delegation is scheduled to visit Russia later this week.

North American and South Korean authorities accused Pyongyang of sending weapons to Russia in the context of the war in Ukraine in exchange for technological assistance for the ballistic and nuclear program.
