Manchester Airport Cancels Flights From 2 Terminals After Power Failure

After the power cut that has been affecting Manchester Airport this Sunday, it was announced that all flights departing from the two main terminals were cancelled.

In an update released at 12:00 p.m., the Airport recalls that "it was affected by a significant power cut in the early hours of this morning" and that, although power was restored, the failure "affected important systems, including card processing boarding and baggage screening, which caused significant delays, particularly in Terminals 1 and 2".

Therefore, "all flights departing from Terminals 1 and 2 have been canceled until further notice." Passengers expected to travel from these terminals are "advised not to travel to the airport and to remain in contact with their airline."

Passengers with flights scheduled from Terminal 3 "should go to the airport normally, unless otherwise indicated by their airline, but they may be affected by delays".

The Airport emphasizes that "flights for already registered passengers are departing, but are subject to delays" and, due to the disruption, "some luggage may not be transported on these flights".

"We will work with airlines and handling partners to reunite affected passengers with their luggage as quickly as possible," he said.

There are still some arrival flights that are being diverted to other airports, and the Airport is advising people picking up passengers to check this situation.

The Airport, the largest in the United Kingdom outside of London, apologizes for the "inconvenience" and assures that it is "working hard to restore normal service as quickly as possible".
