Authorities in Pennsylvania, in the United States, considered the death of a 64-year-old man to be a homicide, almost four decades after he was the target of an attack.
Craig Tschudy died on June 5, in a nursing home, after suffering a head injury in 1986, at the age of 26.
The man was beaten with a baseball bat by “unknown” individuals, in what was “a case of mistaken identity”, said the authorities, cited by the BBC.
No arrests were made at the time and, in fact, the attackers were never identified.
This Wednesday, the York County Medical Examiner's Office said the victim suffered permanent injuries after the attack.
“It is considered a homicide, as the injuries eventually contributed to Tschudy’s death 38 years later,” he said.
Even so, the entity stressed that no charges will be issued, due to the police's inability to identify the attackers.
