Teenager Who Murdered 17-Year-Old Sentenced to Life

A teenager who murdered a 17-year-old boy at a party in West Sussex, England, has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

Yura Varybrus, 17, will serve a minimum of 16 years in prison after being sentenced at Brighton Crown Court, reports Sky News.

Charlie Cosser was stabbed three times in the chest in a tent on a farm in Warnham while attending a party with more than 100 people on July 23, 2023.

Varybrus was found guilty of murder and possession of a sharp object following the trial.

Varybrus stabbed Cosser, who was not known to him, when a fight broke out between them and two other boys on the dance floor.

Although the knife was never found, witnesses at the party told jurors during the trial that they saw Varybrus "drenched" in blood and heard him say "I stabbed someone" after the attack.

Charlie's mother, Tara Cosser, said that the impact of losing her son would "last forever", adding that she sends her son a "Whatsapp message every morning" because all she feels is "numbness and sadness".
