A woman died on Thursday after being hit by a police van on a beach in South Carolina, USA.
After the accident, the victim was transported to a hospital, where she died, according to CBS. "What happened on the beach was a tragedy and we know what our community is going through," the Horry County Police Department said in a statement.
A witness who was on the beach at the time of the accident said he realized what had happened when he heard screams. "We ran over there and there was a lady on the ground and a van on top of her," the man said.
The accident is being investigated.
This is the second accident of its kind in Horry County in recent years, as in 2020 a woman survived being hit by a police van on Garden City Beach.
