Kenyan President Fires Almost Entire Cabinet Amid Protest

Kenyan President William Ruto announced this Thursday (11) the dismissal of almost his entire cabinet, after weeks of protests against the government.

According to the president, only the vice president, Rigathi Gachagua, and the first cabinet secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, will remain in their positions.

Ruto explained that the decision was made “after reflection and a holistic assessment” of his government. “While we have made progress, I am fully aware that the people of Kenya have high expectations and believe that this administration can deliver the most comprehensive transformation in our nation’s history,” he said during the press conference at State House in Nairobi.
