Russia has included Iulia Navalnaya, widow of Alexei Navalny, the leader of the Russian opposition who died in February in an Arctic prison, on a list of "terrorists and extremists".
Two days after an arrest warrant was issued against her, Yulia Navalnaya appears on the list maintained by 'Rosfinmonitoring', Russia's financial intelligence service, according to the AFP news agency.
On Tuesday, Russian justice announced that Iulia Navalnaya, who lives abroad, was the target of an arrest warrant for "participation in an extremist group".
"How fast! (...) If they are so diligent, it's because Iulia Navalnaya is doing everything well", joked on the social network X (formerly Twitter) Alexei Navalny's former spokesperson, Kira Iarmych, who is also in exile.
Navalnaya, who promised to continue her husband's cause from exile, accuses Russian President Vladimir Putin of being responsible for the death of Alexei Navalny and claims that his power is based on "disinformation, lies, deception and provocations".
Navalny died suddenly on February 16, a month before the March 17 presidential election in which Putin was the front-runner, after taking a walk at the IK-3 penitentiary in the Arctic city of Jarp, according to prison authorities.
The Russian opposition accuses the Kremlin of being behind his death, while Putin claims it was a natural death.
