Gypsy Rose Blanchard is expecting her first child.
The woman who became famous for having perpetrated a plan to kill her mother - in a case that gave rise to a Netflix series - made the announcement this Tuesday, on social media.
"This was not planned at all. It was unexpected but we are both very excited to be on this journey of parenthood," announced the 32-year-old woman, who was released from prison in December.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard was released on December 28, after serving seven of the 10 years in prison she was sentenced to for conspiring with her then-boyfriend in the death of her mother, Clauddine 'Dee Dee' Blanchard.
The case dates back to 2015, the year in which Gypsy planned with Nicholas Godejohn the death of her mother, who suffered from Münchhausen syndrome by proxy, a psychological disorder in which a caregiver makes another person sick or creates the illusion that that person person is sick to receive attention.
Gypsy was forced by her mother, over several years, to use a wheelchair and an oxygen tank, in addition to being subjected to various treatments for leukemia, asthma and muscular dystrophy, diseases that she did not have.
