A leader of the Islamist Hamas movement in the West Bank died when he was in Israeli custody, announcing to the Palestinian authorities and the organization.
Mustafa Muhammad Abu Ara, 63, died after being transferred from a prison in southern Israel to a hospital, indicating a joint statement from the department responsible for inmates of the Palestinian Authority and the Prisoners' Club, a Palestinian non-governmental organization .
Abu Ara was detained in the fall, when he suffered from serious health problems, he said, adding that, during his detention, he was subjected to torture and torture.
"We deplore the death of the leader and prisoner Sheikh Mustafa Muhammad Abu Ara and consider the occupation responsible for his assassination due to deliberate medical negligence," Hamas said in a statement.
The Israeli army did not immediately respond to a contact from Agência France-Presse (AFP), which reported with the news.
In July, Palestinian authorities accused Israel of unleashing a "vingança war" against Palestinian prisoners since the beginning of the conflict with Hamas.
At this point, the Israeli army "categorically pursued allegations of systematic violence against detainees", stressing that it was operating in accordance with international law.
