The company behind ‘The Sims’, Electronic Arts, has confirmed that it is working on a film adaptation of the video game franchise.
The company noted that this ‘Sims’ film is being produced by Amazon MGM Studios and that Kate Herron (of ‘Loki’ and ‘The Last of Us’ fame) will be directing and co-writing the film, with LuckyChap - Margot Robbie’s production company - also involved.
What’s more, Electronic Arts vice president and ‘The Sims’ general manager Kate Gorman actually stated that the company wants to “make an impact on the scale of something like the ‘Barbie’ movie” with this ‘Sims’ production.
“I’m sure there’s a pool somewhere in there without ladders, but we haven’t finalized any of those details yet. But that’s the idea, to say that he lives inside this space. It’s a tribute to all the incredible play, creation and fun people have had over the past 25 years in ‘The Sims,’” Gorman said in a statement from Electronic Arts.
