A forecast put forward by the Techinsights website indicates that Apple could, for the first time, overtake Samsung in the ranking of brands with the highest number of mobile phone sales.
Data shared by Counterpoint for the second quarter of 2024 indicates that Samsung has a 3% lead over Apple. Given that the second half of the year is usually more advantageous for the ‘Apple Company’ and if the company manages to maintain its pace in the first half of 2025, it is possible that Samsung will be overtaken by its rival.
The publication also points to the launch of the fourth generation of the iPhone SE as a factor to take into account, which, with a more affordable price, could boost Apple's sales in emerging markets.
