Intelligence Service Announces Death of Senior Russian Official in Lugansk



The Ukrainian Intelligence Service (GUR) announced today that a senior Russian army officer was killed in a car bomb explosion in the eastern Ukrainian city of Lugansk, which is occupied by Russian forces.


GUR identifies the deceased as Commander Dimitro Pervukh, head of the local intelligence service.


The explosion occurred on Friday, before noon, in the city center, the capital of the Ukrainian region of the same name.


The commander, adds the GUR, was working for the subordinate staff of the 273rd intelligence center in the Russian city of Novosibirsk.


"The GUR reminds that there will be fair retribution for all crimes against Ukraine," it said in a message posted on its Telegram account.


Moscow has not yet commented on the incident.
