The Israeli army said today that it killed "two terrorists" who entered Israel from Jordan, south of the Dead Sea, and opened fire on Israeli soldiers.
The incident comes a day after Israel confirmed the death of the leader of the Palestinian extremist group Hamas, Yahya Sinouar.
"Two terrorists who crossed the border from Jordan into Israeli territory, south of the Dead Sea, were eliminated" after they opened fire on soldiers, the Israeli army said in a statement.
In the same statement, the Israeli military indicated that it is searching for a third individual who is on the run.
Israel confirmed on Thursday that it had killed the main Hamas leader and mastermind of the October 7, 2023 attacks, Yahya Sinouar, the most wanted man in the Palestinian Islamist group in the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip.
The official confirmation came after earlier reports indicated that one of the dead resulting from a routine Israeli army operation on Wednesday in the Gaza Strip was highly likely to be Yahya Sinouar.
