Mendy Sues City And Reveals Bernardo Silva's Help Amid Scandal

Benjamin Mendy was heard this Monday by the English courts as part of the case brought against Manchester City, the club that dismissed him in 2021 when he was the target of nine charges of rape and sexual assault, of which he was eventually cleared.

At the time, the English champions suspended payment of the French international's salary, which was set at around 500,000 pounds (almost 600,000 euros) a month, so he is now demanding that he be paid around 11.5 million pounds (13.8 million euros) in unpaid wages.

The left-back (who now plays for Lorient in Ligue 2) says he ran out of money “very quickly” and even had to ask three of his teammates to help him pay child support.

“Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez lent me money to try to pay my legal fees and support my family,” he said, in statements reproduced by the British newspaper Daily Mail.
