If you're a fan of figs, good news. It's a friend of our health and especially useful for those who are in the process of losing weight, as it reduces the desire to eat sweets and controls blood sugar levels, according to nutritionist Thaiz Brito, in an article published in the Metrópoles newspaper.
Regarding the fruit's nutritional profile, the nutritionist highlights its richness in antioxidants (flavonoids and phenolic acids), vitamins A, B1, B2, K and E, as well as minerals such as calcium, iron, phosphorus and potassium.
According to Thaiz Brito, this fruit is an “excellent ally for those suffering from diabetes” as it has a low glycemic index. It also helps you lose weight, as it contains few calories and is a source of fiber, which increases satiety.
What's more, the low concentration of potassium and sodium helps keep blood pressure levels stable.
