Russian air defenses shot down a total of 18 Ukrainian drones over three regions of the country and the Sea of Azov on Thursday night, the Russian Defense Ministry said on the Telegram social network today.
According to a military statement, the unmanned aircraft were shot down in the regions of Belgorod (6), Voronezh (6) and Rostov-Bryansk (1).
The remaining five drones were destroyed over the waters of the Sea of Azov, the Defense Ministry said in a statement, stressing that no casualties or damage were reported due to the airstrike.
The governor of Voronezh, Alexandr Gusev, said on Telegram that a drone shot down in his region fell on a fuel depot and caused a "small fire, which was immediately put out by firefighters".
Attacks by Ukrainian drones against Russian territory occur almost daily, and in recent days there have been two massive attacks involving more than a hundred drones.
According to the new Russian nuclear doctrine, presented last week by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Moscow can respond with nuclear weapons in the event of a massive attack with conventional weapons, including drones.
