The Pakistani, who is on trial in the UK, where he committed the crime, admitted that the 10-year-old child died because of him.
The man accused of murdering his 10-year-old daughter Sara Sharif in the United Kingdom assumed, this Wednesday, in court "full responsibility" for the girl's death.
Urfan Sharif, 42, who previously blamed his wife (the girl's stepmother) for Sara's death, today admitted that he killed his daughter. "Yes, she died because of me," he said in response to questions from prosecuting lawyer Caroline Carberry KC.
Caroline also asked the accused who was responsible for the fractures that Sara had on her body, as well as the burns and bites.
"I take responsibility. I take full responsibility," he responded, admitting to hitting his daughter with a cricket bat and breaking her neck.
Asked again about the fact that he had violently beaten his daughter, Urfan replied, according to Sky News, "in a whisper": "Yes, it's all true."
The trial of Urfan, as well as Sara's wife and stepmother, Beinash Batool, 30, and uncle Faisal Malik, 29, accused of complicity, continues.
The child's body was found in August 2023 in a bunk bed at the family's home in Woking, Surrey, with dozens of injuries including bruises, burns, fractures and bite marks.
Next to it, there was a note left by the father, where he assumed responsibility for the crime. Both he, his wife and brother fled after the murder to Pakistan, where they are natives.
