Seven Dead In Israeli Attack On Beirut Clinic

At least seven health and rescue workers died overnight in Beirut in an attack by Israeli forces against Lebanon.

The Israeli airstrike hit the residential neighborhood of Bashoura and targeted an apartment in a multi-storey building that housed a branch of the Health Society, a group of civilian rescuers linked to the Shiite Hezbollah (Party of God) movement.

According to the Associated Press, it was the closest attack to central Beirut, where the United Nations building and government offices are located.

The attack took place at a time when Israel was carrying out a ground incursion in Lebanon against Hezbollah, while at the same time conducting attacks in Gaza that killed dozens of people.

According to the Israeli army, eight soldiers have died in recent days in the fighting in southern Lebanon.

Israel and Hezbollah have been exchanging fire on the border with Lebanon almost daily since the day after the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, which killed 1,200 people.

In the same attack, 250 people were kidnapped by Hamas.

In response, Israel declared war on the militant group in the Gaza Strip.

More than 41,000 Palestinians have been killed in the Palestinian enclave, according to local health authorities.
