Anthropologist argues that sex with robots will become a reality for many people who will even wish to live with a machine.
Forget that movie scenario where a character falls head over heels in love with a machine. The future will be like that. According to an anthropologist, the future involves having sex with robots and falling head over heels in love with avatars. In fact, Roanne van Voorst goes further and believes that by 2050 there will be young people who have only had sex with machines.
The book Six In A Bed, by Roanne van Voorst, analyzes how love will be experienced in the future. One of the anthropologist's revelations is that, by 2050, ten percent of young people will have only had sex with robots. And, in addition, they will wish to live with one. Even so, the author emphasizes that love is very important for humanity. “Without love, we lose our life force, we fail to thrive, we fail to grow,” she writes. The anthropologist also warns about loneliness. Pointing out that many people in rich countries are having fewer children and are more likely to live and die alone.
Study defends similar reality
This revelation by Roanne van Voorst ends up in line with a study, carried out by Lelo, an adult toy brand, which also anticipates the future of relationships. “We will have more partners – but not like we used to. Teenagers may be abstaining, but we will be more promiscuous in our 30s… and beyond”, is one of the conclusions of the work cited by the Daily Star. “We are more likely to have more partners later in life as we gain confidence and personal development,” it said.
“It seems inevitable that more people will have sexual experiences with robots”
Sex robots and realistic elves and aliens will gain special attention in terms of intimacy. Something that is related to the fact that people are increasingly turning to artificial intelligence. “As technology evolves and becomes more accessible, it seems inevitable that more people will have sexual experiences with robots”, say the experts who participated in the work. “In 50 years, there will be a lot more robots out there. And they will have a lot of personality, even if programmed”, they add. Interaction with robots is also mentioned. “We will interact with them frequently, whether working with us, delivering our orders or helping to care for us as we age. We are likely to treat many of these robots as if they were alive. And we can consider a relationship with some of them, even if it is not sexual”, they conclude.
