The Public Prosecutor's Office of Paraná (MP-PR), through the Rape Victim Support Center (Naves), filed a criminal complaint on Friday (08) against a nursing technician accused of sexually abusing patients at an Emergency Care Unit (UPA) in Curitiba, in addition to recording pornographic images, which was also observed at a referral hospital for pediatric care, also in the capital. The accused, identified as Wesley da Silva Ferreira, 25 years old, lives with HIV – a situation of which he was aware – and filmed the abuse committed.
The complaint, supported by a police investigation, reports abuse committed between November 2023 and October of this year against six victims, four of whom have already been identified (one of whom has already died). One of the victims was only four years old (in this case the crime investigated was only the production of pornographic content).
In all situations mentioned in the records, the victims were sedated. In addition to these abuses, the MPPR points to a former partner of the accused as a victim, to whom he transmitted HIV by deliberately having sexual intercourse without using a condom – the victim was unaware of the accused's health condition.
Crimes – The nursing technician was charged with rape of a vulnerable person, unauthorized recording and sharing of sexual intimacy, production of pornographic content involving a child, storage of child pornographic content, and serious bodily harm due to the transmission of an incurable disease (HIV). The fact that the crimes were committed due to the position held by the accused – as a professional responsible for the sectors where the abuses occurred – and that the victims were hospitalized people in a situation of personal misfortune also weighs as an aggravating factor for increasing the sentence.
The investigations into the case began after the accused's partner found images of the abuse on his cell phone. He is currently in preventive detention.
