Cavaliers Join Restricted Lot In NBA History

The Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday became the fourth team in the history of the North American Basketball League (NBA) to open a season with 15 wins, when they beat the Charlotte Hornets 128-114 at home.

Even without Donovan Mitchell, the 'Cavs' equaled the records of the Washington Capitols, in 1948/49, and the Houston Rockets, in 1993/94, and now only lose to the Golden State Warriors, who, in 2015/16, took off with 24 triumphs.

Behind were the 1957/58 Boston Celtics and the 2002/03 Dallas Mavericks, who started with 14 wins.

The 'Cavs' also reinforced their record of consecutive victories, at any stage of the season, as their best was 13 from 2009, 2010 and 2017, when they had LeBron James in their squad.

In Sunday's matchup, Darius Garland (25 points and 12 assists), Ty Jerome (24 points and eight assists), Evan Mobley (23 points and 11 rebounds) and Jarrett Allen (21 points and 15 rebounds) formed an unstoppable quartet.

Among the outsiders, point guard Lamelo Ball stands out, who finished the match with 31 points and 12 assists.

The 'Cavs' lead the Eastern Conference, with 15 wins in 15 games, being seconded by the champions Boston Celtics (11 wins and three losses), owned by Portuguese Neemias Queta, who they will meet in the next game, on Tuesday, in Boston.
