Preventing TikTok from Being Banned in the US Is One of Trump's Priorities

One of US President-elect Donald Trump's priorities when he takes office is to prevent TikTok from being banned in the country, according to a report in The Washington Post.

As the publication recalls, President Biden signed a law at the beginning of the year which, if left unchanged, will result in the Chinese app being officially banned in the US on January 19 - the day before Trump takes office as the country's 47th president.

According to “people close” to the matter, Trump has already made it clear that he wants to prevent TikTok from being banned. One of these people is Kellyanne Conway, a former Trump adviser who believes there are “many ways to hold China accountable, beyond alienating 180 million US users a month”.

Despite Trump's intentions, it is unclear how TikTok would be prevented from being banned in the US.

It is important to note, however, that Trump sought to ban the app in his last term as president. However, Trump joined the app as a user during Biden's presidency.
