Russia Launched Massive Attack With Over 130 'Drones' Overnight

Russian forces launched another massive drone strike on Ukrainian territory last night, using 132 unmanned aerial vehicles, the Ukrainian Air Force said today.

Of the total number of drones launched, 88 were shot down by Ukrainian defenses and another 42 lost signal, partly due to the Ukrainian army's electronic warfare measures, the statement said.

The downed drones were intercepted in several regions of northern, central, northeastern, southern and southeastern Ukraine.

According to the Air Force, infrastructure in several Ukrainian regions, cars, private homes and residential buildings were damaged during the strike.

Russia attacks regions of Ukraine every night with Shahed drones and other kamikaze drones. Ukrainian defenses manage to neutralize the vast majority of them.

The war in Ukraine has already left tens of thousands dead on both sides and recent months have been marked by large-scale Russian air strikes on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure, while Kiev's forces have targeted targets on Russian territory close to the border and on the Crimean peninsula, illegally annexed in 2014.

Negotiations between the two sides have been completely blocked since spring 2022, with Moscow continuing to demand that Ukraine accept the annexation of part of its territory.
