Although Qualcomm's Snapdragon and MediaTek's Dimensity processors are the most widely used by cell phone manufacturers, there are some examples of brands developing their own alternatives. This is the case with Apple, Samsung, Google, Huawei and, it seems, Xiaomi in the near future.
The DigiTimes website has shared a rumor indicating that Xiaomi has finalized the development of a 3nm processor that will be announced sometime in 2025. The Chinese company is believed to have collaborated with TSMC to develop the chips.
The aim is above all to save on the cost of components used in cell phones, with processor orders from companies like Qualcomm often costing twice as much as their own alternatives.
