Activists Storm Capitol Bathroom And End Up In Jail

More than a dozen transgender activists were arrested Thursday after storming the Capitol. Among those detained is Chelsea Manning, a former US army analyst and WikiLeaks source, reports CNBC.

Activists were protesting a new rule announced by House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) last month that requires individuals to use single-sex restroom facilities that correspond to their biological sex.

The activists shared images of their protest action and even showed the moment they entered a bathroom, which represented a provocation to the extent in question (you can see the video above).

"Approximately 15 people were arrested for illegally protesting inside the Cannon House Office Building [one of the buildings in Washington, D.C. that houses the offices of the United States House of Representatives, and is also the oldest building adjacent to the Capitol]," they announced the authorities.

Chelsea Manning, it is worth remembering, was sentenced to 35 years in prison in 2013 for sharing secret information with WikiLeaks. In 2017, however, he received a commutation from then-President Barack Obama.
